Steve MarshUK Label Manager of Mascot Label Group
I did a HND and then topped up as I transferred from another course at Bucks.
I am UK Label Manager of Mascot Label Group and our artists include Black Label Society, Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Beth Hart, Gov’t Mule and Bernie Marsden. My role is to market the artists ranging from releasing the album to working with the promoters to making sure the artists’ shows are sold out. As an independent you need to do everything yourself ranging from marketing campaigns, ad booking, P&L’S, setting up the products at retail, managing promo days for the artist and keeping the PR’s and Radio Pluggers on their toes!
After Bucks I started at Universal Music as a Licensing Assistant. I then moved on to become a Junior Product Manager for Universal Music Catalogue where I released around 30 albums.
After Universal I joined EMI and where I looked after merchandise for Blur, Bastille and Conor Maynard. This led me onto touring with Bastille for almost a year during the release of their album where I designed, produced and then sold the merchandise on tour.
I chose the course because the standard of lecturers was so high. They have all been there and got the t-shirt! This is why the course stands out above every other music management degree I have seen. They aren’t just great teachers, they have great experience too.
