Co-Founder & Director: A Greener Festival

Music Industry Management 2006

Based on my dissertation at Bucks New Uni, A Greener Festival was set up in 2006 with partners Ben Challis and Luke Westbury, to offer an advice and exchange resource to festivals regarding better environmental management. An award scheme was established at this time and is now operating in Europe, US & Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

A Greener Festival is a non-profit organisation that spearheads and supports campaigns such as the Festival Wood – Highland reforestation project, Love Your Tent and soon festival food salvage operations with Fareshare and NCASS.

We deliver the Green Events and Innovations Conference annually alongside Bucks New University which in recent years has been hosted by the International Live Music Conference (ILMC).

The key benefit I believe was the links that the university provided with the industry. Had I have not taken the course I don’t think I would have found my way to the festival organisers and label managers who launched my career. It was also my dissertation subject that led to my longest standing and most successful endeavour A Greener Festival.
